Use of Would in English
There are seven different use of Would that often creats confusion among English speaking students. Use of modal verb “would” in English through Hindi.
1. Use of Would in English – (करता)
Example:
I would go to the office but I don’t feel like.
(मैं आज ऑफिस जाता लेकिन मेरा मन नहीं कर रहा। )
2. वे लोग यहां आते। They would come here.
3. वह मुझे सबकुछ बताता। He would tell me everything.
2. Use of Would in English – करता था/थे/थी
Example:
1. वह हमेशा मुझे डांटा करता था। He would always scold me.
2. चाचा अक्सर मछली पकड़ा करते थे। Uncle would often catch fish.
3. दादी कहानी सुनाया करती थीं। Grandmother would tell a story.
3. Use of Would in English – गा,गे, गी (future in past )
1. उसने कहा कि वह बाजार नहीं जाएगा। He said that he would not go to market.
2. तुमने कहा कि तुम उसकी मदद करोगे। You said that you would help him.
3. उसने कहा कि वह बाजार से कुछ खरीदेगा। He said that he would buy something from the market.
4. Use of Would in English – गा,गे,गी (For possibility)
Example
1.जहां तक मैं तेरे पिताजी को जानता हूं वह इस प्रस्ताव को स्वीकार नहीं करेंगे।
As far as I know your papa, he would not accept this proposal.
2. मुझे लगता है कि आज बारिश होगी। I think it would rain today.
3. तुम्हें लगता है कि यह फिर नहीं होगा। You think this would not happen again.
5. Use of Would in English – गा, गे, गी (For proposal or offer)
Example
1. क्या आप चाय पीना पसंद करेंगे ?
Would you like to take tea ?
2. क्या आप मेरे साथ चलना पसंद करोगे?
Would you like to come with me?
3. क्या आप भोजन करना पसंद करोगे?
Would you like to have food?
6. Use of Would in English – गा, गे, गी (For request)
Example
1. क्या आप दरवाजा बंद कर देंगे?
Would you please shut the door?
2. क्या आप चुप रहेंगे?
Would you please be quiet?
3. क्या आप मेरी मदद करेंगे?
Would you please help me?
7. Use of Would in English -गा, गे, गी (For want चाह)
Example
1. मैं आप से मिलना चाहूंगा। I would like to meet you.
2. वह अंग्रेजी में बात करना चाहेगा।
He would like to talk in English.
3. वह हमारे पास आना चाहेगा।
He would like to come to us.
