Today we are going to learn that very important Adjectives in Hindi with meaning and at the end you will get some exercises (Hindi to English translation). But before that let’s know!
What is an adjective (विशेषण) ?
An adjective is a word that tells about noun or pronoun. (विशेषण एक ऐसा शब्द है जो संज्ञा या सर्वनाम की विशेषता बताता है।) जैसे,
Good boy [ “good” adjective है जो “boy” noun की विशेषता बता रहा है।]
Kinds (प्रकार) of adjectives
- Adjective of quality
- Demonstrative adjective
- Distributive adjective
- Proper adjective
- Epithet adjective
- Limiting adjective etc.

इस सभी very important Adjectives का प्रयोग आप चाहें तो Tenses, Modal Verbs, और किसी भी प्रकार के English sentences में ज़रुरत के हिसाब से कर सकते हैं।
Some very important Adjectives are as follows:
1. Few/a few/ the few (countable noun)
a. Few (= not many)- यह adjective of number है। यह countable noun के साथ प्रयोग किया जाता है यह negative अर्थ – ‘रखता है और नहीं के बराबर होता है;’ जैसे – He has read few books. (=hardly any or practically no books.)
b. A few (= some at least)- यह affirmative अर्थ रखता है। इसका अर्थ – ‘कुछ/ थोड़ा ‘ होता है। जैसे,
He has read a few books. उसके कुछ किताबें पढ़ी हैं।
Structure:
[a few + countable noun]
c. the few (=not many , but all that there are)- इसका अर्थ होता है – ‘बहुत कम लेकिन जो भी है सब।’ यह positive और negative दोनों तरह के वाक्यों में प्रयोग होता है। जैसे-
He has read the few books that he has. उसने किताबें पढ़ी हैं जो भी उसके पास है।
2. little, a little, the little (uncountable noun)
a. Little (hardly any= not)- यह adjective of quantity है। यह uncountable noun के साथ use होता है और इसका अर्थ भी ‘थोड़ा‘ होता है और नाकारात्मक (negative) sense में होता है और नहीं के बराबर के sense में use होता है। जैसे – There is little water in the glass. (no water) ग्लास में थोड़ा पानी है। (नहीं के बराबर)
b. a little (=some at least) इसका अर्थ सकारात्मक (positive) sense में होता है मतलब (थोड़ा)। जैसे –
Structure:
[a little + uncountable noun]
There is a little water in the glass. (Some water). ग्लास में थोड़ा पानी है। (थोड़ा है)
c. the little (= not much but all that there is) यह दोनों positive and negative अर्थ में प्रयोग किया जाता है। इसका अर्थ होता है ‘ज्यादा नहीं लेकिन जो कुछ है;’ जैसे –
The water that was in the cup has been spilt. थोड़ा पानी जो कुछ कप में है गिर गया। ( = There was very little water in the cup but all that there was has been spilt.)
3. Much, Many (अधिक)
a. Much – quantity मात्रा का बोध कराता है। मतलब यह ऐसा noun के पहले use होता है जो uncountable noun हो, जिसकी गिनती नहीं होती। जैसे,
He has much knowledge. उसके पास अधिक ज्ञान है।
Structure :
[Much + uncountable noun]
b. Many number संख्या का बोध कराता है। मतलब यह ऐसा noun के पहले use होता है जो countable noun हो, जिसकी गिनती होती है। जैसे,
He has many books. (उसके पास अधिक किताबें हैं।)
Structure:
[Many+ countable noun]
4. Some – (कुछ/थोड़ा)
सबसे अच्छी बात यह है कि some को आप countable noun और uncountable noun दोनों के साथ प्रयोग कर सकते हैं। जैसे,
He has some friends. उसके कुछ दोस्त हैं।
He has some milk. उसके पास थोड़ा दूध है।

5. lots of/a lot of – बहुत (countable and uncountable noun)
‘a lot’ को भी आप countable noun और uncountable noun दोनों प्रकार के nouns के साथ प्रयोग कर सकते हैं। जैसे,
She has a lot of money.
Or
She has lots of money. उसके पास बहुत पैसा है।
She has a lot of rice.
Or
She has lots of rice.
उसके पास बहुत चावल है।
